It’s that time again!
The Board of Trustees of the Ohio News Photographers Association is seeking nominations to fill open positions on the Board. Currently open are Treasurer and Secretary. Barbara Perenic has given notice that she will step down, and the Secretary position has been open since Gaelen Morse moved away for a new job. Both roles are critical to maintaining ONPA business in accordance with the Bylaws of the Corporation.
Of course, you can still choose to run for any position given that this is an election year.
Please send a note of interest to current Board President, Andrew Dolph, at onpaprez@gmail.com. You must be a member in good standing to be nominated. Deadline is Nov. 15, 2023. Elections will be held electronically through an online link, beginning Dec. 1.
The Board is ready to begin an exciting process of planning for the next conference in addition to moving forward with future plans for ONPA. Your enthusiasm and fresh ideas will be instrumental to the success of the organization in the coming term.
Description of both roles from our Bylaws are as follows:
“The Secretary shall issue notices and maintain the official records of all meetings of the members and the Board of Trustees and such records shall be attested by (them) or such other person as shall have acted as Secretary of such meeting during his absence or disability. The Secretary shall have charge of all records of the corporation except such records as may be essential to the President and Treasurer; sign or attest all approved instruments, papers and documents where required in carrying on the business affairs of the corporation; shall keep a true record of the membership of the corporation; issue election notices and ballots as provided in Article VIII of this Code of Regulations; and keep a copy of all correspondence and records kept by him in the performance of his duties.” Note: Recently, the Secretary has taken an active role over social media accounts. We’re looking for a nominee to do the same.
“The Treasurer shall maintain custody of all funds, securities, and properties of the corporation; direct the receipt of all funds and securities and payment of all authorized disbursements; notify the Secretary of any member removed from the membership list pursuant to Article I, Section 2 of this Code of Regulations; direct the administration of all accounting activities of the corporation; furnish an annual financial report to be submitted to the members of the corporation at the annual meeting of members and any additional financial reports of the corporation as required; and keep a copy of all correspondence and records kept by (them) in the performance of (their) duties.”
Thank you for your interest.
